Directions
DRIVING FROM BROOME: We are approximately 10 km out of Broome along the Broome Highway. You will pass the Cape Leveque turnoff on your left and continue for approximately 1.5 km where you will see Crab Creek Road on your right. There is a blue sign for Crab Creek Road and the Observatory at this turn-off. The road begins as bitumen and turns into red dirt. We recommend 40 minutes for the total trip.
DRIVING FROM DERBY / PORT HEDLAND: We are approximately a 40 minute drive WEST of the Roebuck Roadhouse. As you are approaching Broome we are on the left-hand side of the road. Our turn-off is about 4 km past the turnoff for Malcolm Douglas Croc Park. You will see a blue road sign for Crab Creek Road and the Observatory on the left. The road begins as bitumen and turns into red dirt.
Our road (Crab Creek Road) is a red dirt road for 15 km. It is sandy and corrugated, we can only advise that 4WD use this road. However small 2WD often do so safely so use your discretion. Rental car companies are hesitant to send 2WD on our road so please contact your hire car company if unsure.

Great tour
So glad I joined up with BBO to do a few tours. The all day lakes tour was exceptional, as was the 'bush and plains' and 'shorebird' tour. The wardens were knowledgeable , professional and helpful. I took 3 of my non-birding friends on the 'bush and plains' tour and they loved it. There were loads of shorebirds on the shorebird tour, despite many having left in April. The pick ups and drop offs from hotel in Broome worked seamlessly. Ideally, I would loved to have stayed here a few nights - next time! Thank you BBO - you helped to make my trip to NW WA the exceptional journey that it was :)Awesome spot to visit
Awesome little spot to visit. Staff were friendly and informative. Options to go on guided tours or to hang out and do your own walks. Added a few new birds to my list. Definitely a must do if you like birds and nature based activities.
